Trigon Agri has a two-tier governance structure consisting of the Board of Directors and an Executive Board (including the CEO) in accordance with Danish corporate law.

Board of Directors

Peter Gæmelke

Peter Gæmelke has been the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Trigon Agri since January 2016 (member of the Board of Directors in 2015). Peter Gæmelke is an independent farmer since 1983 at Røj Farm, Chairman of Danske Spil, Lovenholm Fund, NatureEnergi BioGas A/S, Vice Chairman of University of Copenhagen, board member of Kirkbi A/S, DLR Credit A/S, Tryghedsgruppen, HCP A/S, Jantzen Development A/S, Gl. Estrup Manor House Museum, member of the executive board and central committee of the liberal party of Denmark, Venstre, member of the committee of representatives of Sydbank A/S, Hedeselskabet, the National Bank of Denmark, TryghedsGruppen and the Folk High School of Askov. Mr Gæmelke is also a former Chairman of the Danish Agricultural Organization, former President of the Danish Agricultural Council (1995 – 2009), former member of the Board of the Danish Bacon and Meat Council, the Danish Economy Council, Sydbank, the Local Agricultural Organizations etc. He was born in 1955 and holds a degree in Commerce and Accounting.

 

René Nyberg

Ambassador René Nyberg is an independent member of the Board of Directors of Trigon Agri (Supervisory Board until its dissolution in 2010). Mr. Nyberg entered the Foreign Ministry of Finland in 1971 and has served in Moscow, in the Consulate General in Leningrad, the embassies in Brussels and Bonn and as Finland´s Ambassador to the OSCE in Vienna. In the Foreign Ministry, he has worked as Secretary General for the Finnish-Soviet Commission on Economic Cooperation and as Director of the Unit for Security Policy and Director of the Division for Eastern Affairs. In the middle of the 1990s he was chairman of the OSCE Minsk Group. He has been Ambassador of Finland in Moscow 2000-2004 and since 15th of July 2004 until recently served as Ambassador of Finland to Berlin. Mr. Nyberg has a degree in political science from the University of Helsinki.

 

Raivo Vare

Raivo Vare is also Chairman of the Council of Estonian Development Fund, member of the President’s Academic Advisory Board in Estonia, member of Advisory Council of the Estonian Business School, Vice-Chairman of the Council of the Estonian Cooperation Assembly and member of the Transit Commission of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications of Estonia, partner in Sthenos grupp Ltd, OÜ Rvve Grupp, owner in Live Nature OÜ and co-trainer of Invicta. Raivo Vare was born in 1958. He holds MA summa cum laude in law from Tartu University and EMBA cum laude from Estonian Business School.

 

David Mathew

David Mathew has more than thirty years of experience in Emerging Markets in Asia (particularly China),Central Europe and the CIS both at the commercial  level and in  investment banking and Private Equity. He has worked as a Director of Robert Fleming in London and in Asia with Baring Brothers and Jardine Matheson in Hong Kong and Beijing. He was born in 1954 and holds an MA in Modern History from Oriel College Oxford University.

 

Executive Board

Joakim Helenius

Joakim Helenius is the Chairman of the Executive Board, CEO and the President of Trigon Agri, in charge of the financial and operational strategy of the company. Mr. Helenius was the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Trigon Agri from 2007 to 2015 (Supervisory Board until its dissolution). He has been the Chairman of Trigon Capital since 1992. Before joining Trigon Capital he was an Executive Director and Member of the Board of Merrill Lynch International Bank since 1989, Vice President of fixed income division in Goldman Sachs International Limited in 1987-1989 and in 1981-1984, and Senior Manager of capital markets in Kansallis Banking Group in 1984-1986. Mr. Helenius has been a Supervisory Board Member of Baltic Republics Fund, Viisnurk, Baltika, EMV, FKSM, Estonian Savings Bank, Hansapank, Reval Hotelligrupi AS, Koger & Sumberg, Gutta, Olainfarm, Sylvester and Sanitas.

 

Konstantin Kotivnenko

Mr. Konstantin Kotivnenko is a member of the Executive Board of Trigon Agri. Mr. Kotivnenko joined Trigon Capital in 2007. Mr. Kotivnenko is responsible for sourcing, structuring and set-up of the majority of Trigon Agri A/S acquisitions in Ukraine and Russia. Prior to joining Trigon Capital, Mr Kotivnenko worked as an Attorney at Law for Sorainen, the leading pan-Baltic law firm. Mr. Kotivnenko has a Master of Laws from Georgetown University Law Center, a Bachelor of Laws from Concordia International University Estonia and has studied at Estonian School of Diplomacy.
